Touch and Go / Quarterstick Newsletter

Shannon Wright "Let In The Light" Out Now!

We're very excited that this amazing record can now be
experienced by all! Shannon has been consistently releasing
stellar records for years, and "best yet" are two words
being used to describe this latest installment. We'll let
you make up your own mind... to stream "Let In The Light"
and to find out more information, go to:

May 8th, 2007:

Shannon Wright - Let In The Light - CD

After four solo records on Quarterstick, Shannon has come
back with her most revealing record yet. "Let in the Light"
is for gray skies and quiet moments, for furtive emotions
and uncompromising catharsis. With songs tinged with
Bohemian folk, Parisian melodies and more piano than ever
before, this record is full of honest emotion.

April 10th, 2007:

CocoRosie - The Adventures of Ghosthorse & Stillborn - LP/CD

This album is a departure from the obscured blur of stained
glass reve to a more self-exploitive memoir. Parts are
dreamy and parts are savage, but, as with an opera where
death represents a secret heaven, the whole record feels
like a black diamond in the snow.

March 20th, 2007:

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Living With The Living - CD/LP

For their fifth full-length release (and first with Touch
and Go Records), Ted Leo and the Pharmacists met up with
Brendan Canty (Fugazi) at Long View Farms to iron out a new
set of anthems that arrive with a confident and outspoken
immediacy. With "Living with the Living," Ted & Co. wipe
clean the slate that once held names like Weller, Strummer
and Bragg and indulge some of their farthest-reaching
musical ambitions.

Get the limited-edition 5 song bonus EP, "Mo' Living,"
featuring exclusive new studio material with purchase of
"Living With The Living." Available while supplies last! For
more information go to:

June 5th, 2007:

Shellac - Excellent Italian Greyhound - LP/CD

July 10th, 2007:

The For Carnation - Promised Works - CD

Hey, you there -- check out this old stuff by The For
Carnation! We like it pretty well. That is to say, we like
it well enough to repackage the recordings, originally
released by Matador as "Marshmallows" and "Fight Songs",
and celebrate them now as "Promised Works"!!

August 21st, 2007:

Mekons - Natural - CD

Removed from the restraints of conventional studio
technology, the Mekons navigate an undulating sonic landscape
of lavish melodies, mantric chants and shimmering acoustic
experimentation all the while displaying the same natural
grace and precision that drives the sparkling salmon forever
upstream through the fierce current to mate and die.
"Natural" is the Mekon's first CD of new material since
2002's critically acclaimed "OOOH!"

in case you are new here....we post irregularly to our favorite links to rare and live music available for download. we do not link to lossless files, as we are half deaf ourselves. we also don't host any files, as we do not comprehend the technology. we simply stumble across this stuff and share the links. please support all the websites and bands that do all the real work getting this music into your ears. all the sites listed below have more great music and content. most of these links will go dead at some point so grab the music while you can.

We are based out of Providence, Rhode Island. We offer no apologies, nor should you hold that against us. More info here on 75orLess at any of these web pages:

It's a reasonable question. The idea was born during our daily music chats, while discussing reviews we'd read. There was only one thing we consistently agreed on: they were too long. It seemed the point of how the music sounded and whether or not it was good was lost in an overlong mess of lyric quotes, personal accounts and a seemingly desperate attempt to fulfill a word count. Eventually someone said, "It's gotten to the point where if you can't say it in 75 words or less, you should shut the eff up". Within a week, 75orless.com was born. The best part about our limit is its reversal of typical music reviews. We limit the amount of words we use, and are not required to reach a number.

Welcoming electronic, hip-hop, indie, folk, punk, disco, pop, cock rock, math rock, brit pop, nu gaze, blues, garage, country, new new wave, rockabilly, idm, crust, techno, grindcore and all other music submissions. Where words with 2 letters or fewer do not count.
